Growth Mindset vs. Fixed Mindset: Kya Aapki Soch Aapki Pragati ki Rukawat Hai?

Stanford University ki psychologist Carol Dweck ne ek krantikari concept diya tha—‘Mindset’. Unhone bataya ki hamari safalta sirf hamari kabiliyat (ability) ya talent par nirbhar nahi karti, balki is baat par nirbhar karti hai ki hum apni kabiliyat ke baare mein kya sochte hain. Unhone ise do bhagon mein banta: Fixed Mindset aur Growth Mindset.

Indian middle-class parivaron mein, jahan ‘security’ aur ‘stability’ ko sabse upar rakha jata hai, wahan in do mindsets ki ladai rozana dekhne ko milti hai.

1. Fixed Mindset: “Jo Hai So Hai”

Fixed mindset wale log mante hain ki buddhi (intelligence) aur talent janmjaat hote hain. Agar aap math mein kamzor hain, toh aap hamesha kamzor hi rahenge. Indian perspective mein, hum aksar bacchon ko kehte sunte hain, “Yeh toh shuru se hi padhne mein tez hai” ya “Iska dimaag business mein nahi chalega”.

Middle-class parivaron mein ‘Failure’ (asafalta) ko ek kalank mana jata hai. Is darr se log naye raste nahi chunte. Fixed mindset wala vyakti chunautiyon se bachta hai kyunki use lagta hai ki agar woh haar gaya, toh log use ‘nakaara’ samjhenge. Woh apni purani skills par hi tike rehna chahte hain, chahe duniya kitni bhi badal jaye.

2. Growth Mindset: “Seekha Jaa Sakta Hai”

Growth mindset wale log mante hain ki mehnat, sahi strategy aur doosron ki madad se kabiliyat ko badhaya ja sakta hai. Unke liye failure ek ant nahi, balki ek ‘feedback’ hai. Woh sochte hain, “Main abhi yeh nahi kar pa raha hoon, lekin seekh sakta hoon”.

Aaj ke ‘Digital India’ aur startup culture mein yeh mindset sabse zyada relevant hai. Aaj ek middle-class ladka ya ladki sirf ek purani naukri par nirbhar nahi rehna chahti, balki woh naye skills seekhkar freelancing, content creation ya entrepreneurship mein haath azma rahe hain. Yeh Growth Mindset ka hi parinaam hai.

Middle-Class Mindset aur Aaj ki Chunautiyan

Hamare desh mein middle-class hone ka matlab aksar ‘limited resources’ hota hai. Is wajah se hamare andar ek ‘Scarcity Mindset’ (kami ki soch) ghar kar jati hai, jo Fixed Mindset ko badhava deti hai. Hum ‘Risk’ lene se darte hain kyunki humein lagta hai ki hamare paas ‘Back-up’ nahi hai.

Lekin aaj ka daur (AI aur Automation ka daur) Fixed Mindset walon ke liye khatarnak hai. Agar koi bank employee yeh soche ki “Mujhe toh bas register maintain karna aata hai, main computer nahi seekh sakta”, toh woh peeche chhoot jayega. Wahin, Growth Mindset wala vyakti naye software aur AI tools ko ek mauke ki tarah dekhega.

Indian Perspective: “Log Kya Kahenge?” vs “Main Kya Kar Sakta Hoon?”

Middle-class samaj mein ‘Social Status’ ka bahut dabav hota hai. Fixed mindset wala vyakti hamesha ‘Smart’ dikhne ki koshish karta hai aur apni galtiyon ko chhupata hai. Growth mindset wala vyakti ‘Smart’ dikhne se zyada ‘Better’ banne par dhyan deta hai.

Aaj kal ke youth ko yeh samajhna zaroori hai ki Sharma ji ke bete ki naukri ya kisi ki sarkari naukri lag jana hi success ka ekmatra paimana nahi hai. Success darasal ek ‘Continuous Learning’ ka process hai.

Mindset Kaise Badlein?
  1. ‘Yet’ (Abhi Tak) ka istemal karein: Jab aap kahein “Mujhe coding nahi aati”, toh uske aage “Abhi tak” (Yet) jod dein. Yeh dimaag ko signal deta hai ki rasta band nahi hua hai.
  2. Effort ki taarif karein: Apne bacchon ya khud ki taarif sirf ‘Result’ ke liye nahi, balki us ‘Process’ aur ‘Mehnat’ ke liye karein jo aapne ki.
  3. Criticism ko seekh banayein: Agar koi aapki galti nikaale, toh use personal attack na samjhein. Dekhein ki usmein sudhaar ki kya gunjayish hai.

Carol Dweck ki theory humein sikhati hai ki hamara dimaag ek muscle ki tarah hai—jitni kasrat karenge, utna mazboot hoga. Indian middle-class ke liye ab waqt aa gaya hai ki hum ‘Security’ ke pinjre se nikal kar ‘Growth’ ke khule aasman mein udna seekhein. Safalta unhe nahi milti jinhe sab kuch aata hai, balki unhe milti hai jo sab kuch seekhne ka jazba rakhte hain.
